Not only that but Bernie Worrell and Junie Morrison's style of playing,as well as Clinton's arrangements here are more fluidly arranged and tightly arranged than much of anything in the P-Funk world. Without question, Clinton’s star mentee and longtime co-pilot on the P-Funk journey, bassist William “Bootsy” Collins, was up to the task. While Trombipulation wasn't as commercially successful as previous Parliament albums, its first single, "Agony of DeFeet" peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. An interesting aspect of Trombipulation is that female vocals are more prominent than usual, predicting the excellent work Brides of Funkenstein would turn out in the ‘80s, but you’d be forgiven for missing them given how much else is going on at any given time.
