Okayu (Japanese rice porridge) is a comforting dish of rice and water. I love okayu, and eat it almost everday.

But since I didn’t have honey I went for a salty version and used some miso.

Ochazuke, okayu, and zosui are all referred to as Japanese rice porridge, gruel, or congee. I absolutely loved all the hospital food in Japan. So I thought I would give it a go.
