When enrolling in one of Extension's Summer University Programs, you may change from part-time to full-time or from full-time to part-time. Summer Success Programs (SSP) charge a program fee in addition to the tuition. Enrollment for visiting and international students begins April 20, 2020. This includes all Summer Session courses and Summer Success programs offered by any unit.
What this program includes Students should consider living on campus during summer session ONLY if they satisfy at least one of the following conditions: those who are without access to stable housing; who come from housing/food insecure households; who are unable to travel home; who are from areas highly impacted by COVID-19 or regions at risk for a COVID-19 outbreak; who are unable to relocate without high risk to their safety; and those who would be relocating to homes that lack infrastructure to accommodate virtual instruction. Enrollment for visiting students (UC visitors, high school, incoming, International students, alumni, other college students, etc.) No Financial Aid Summer application is required! While international students may begin reviewing courses beginning March 2020 (when UC San Diego students begin enrolling in Summer Session classes), visiting and international students may not enroll in courses until April 20, 2020. Summer Session financial aid is credited to UC San Diego student accounts a few days before the beginning of the summer session you're enrolled in: For Session 1, your student account will be credited beginning June 20, 2020. ICA Student Activity Fee (undergraduate only), $129.52 per session, Recreation Facility Fee, $58.50 per session, University Center Fee, $50.73 per session. Students remaining in campus housing will be assigned to single-occupancy spaces.
Campus-based fees will continue to be collected and will not be refunded.

Extension's Summer University Program consists of regular university courses compressed into two five-week periods and both sessions are very rigorous. This applies to courses not offered on campus - study abroad, online, etc. We welcome current students, newly admitted Fall first-year students and transfers, international students, community members, and visitors from other UC campuses, US colleges, and local high schools.
Will I need to pay campus-based fees for online courses?

Consider planning ahead and reserve some of your direct loan eligibility for Summer, instead of borrowing up to the limit during the regular academic year. Once we have confirmed your course enrollment, you will receive confirmation and acceptance materials from our Extension International Programs admissions department.
Certain courses may require prior experience in the course subject area. Extension's Summer University Program I: June 26 - August 1, 2020, Extension's Summer University Program II: July 31 - September 5, 2020. Waitlisted courses do not count towards a minimum total units. Due to shortened timelines in summer, your bill may come after fees are due. Students interested in applying to UC degree programs should refer to the UC Admissions website, or the websites of other UC campuses they wish to attend for details about their admissions process.
