She is brilliant as she is stressed out in most scenes and also so funny. Robert Harling's script is near perfect, just check out the "quotes" section; on second thought, just rent the DVD, since it's the delivery that really makes the lines sing. Soapdish (1991) is an unmissable gem that you will need to see again and again, because it's not often that a movie can deliver so amply with so many hilarious lines. "Soap Dish" is a very funny farce on the Soap Opera business, focusing on the dramas that often occur behind the cameras as well as making fun of the genre itself in front of the camera. Kevin Kline, Sally Fields and especially Robert Downey Jr at their top best. Kevin Klein, Sally Field, Robert Downey Jr. all turn in superb performances as expected. I watched this again in 2019 after not having seen it in twenty years. If you have never followed a soap opera, you might appreciate how goofy this is. Fun cast and absurd story line. Would have given 4 stars as the disk was a cash converter's DVD, few scratches. You can tell they were all having an incredible time with this plot within a plot that has so many little twists and turns. But more than anything - an amazing cast and an incredible script. It's hard to take seriously someone who started her career as a "flying nun", but Sally Field was spot on in this.
